Review – Tiki 30 Charter
Review of a modified Tiki 30 – The Veni Vedi Vici

Tiki 30 - Veni Vidi Vici
This is an easy boat to sail, even single-handed. It responds well to sail and helm changes. It moves evenly through the water in a variety of wind and sea conditions. The four-stroke Yamaha is reliable and provides ample power. The electrical system is simple yet sufficient to power all lights and a large refrigerator. And, the shallow draft give the boat access to places that a monohull couldn’t safely visit. On the other hand, it definitely isn’t a luxury craft, and some of the gear shows the wear of years of use as a charter boat. The deck cabin structure provide ample protection, but is simply too low for comfort. Watch out, or you will bump your head. The “double” bunks in each hull are functional for bunk & storage period. You will not want to spend much time down below on this boat.
Pros
Easy to rig – The gaff rigged main is easy to put up and take down, easy to reef, and is an efficient sail plan.
Boomless main – The gaff rigged main doesn’t not have boom which makes sailing safer.
Refrigerator – Large and always on, a very nice treat when sailing in the tropics
Roller furling – Easy to operate
Swim ladder – Very easy to use, and much more stable than conventional swim ladders
Storage – The boat feature plenty of storage
Engine – Reliable and plenty of power
Support from operator – Excellent
Cons
Limited visibility forward when steering from the windward hull
Insufficient head room in deck cabin
Some equipment could use refurbishment
